After graduating from UF in 1971, Dr. Swander married fellow student Dr. Karen Swander. They had three children and continued the Gator tradition. After their father’s passing, Ben’s children were inspired to create the scholarship, named for him. The scholarship supports undergraduate students in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering.
